Collection: Dance Shoes

When were ballet shoes invented?
1795.

Originally women wore heeled shoes to dance. The first non-heeled shoes (worn in the Mid 18th Century by Marie Camargo of the Paris Opera Ballet) gave dancers a newfound ability to perform jumps and leaps that would otherwise have been impossible.

We don't sell heeled ballet shoes but we do sell pretty much everything else. If on the off chance you can't find something you like please get in touch with us at info@sddanceshop.co.uk or call us on 01772 257994.
